Partnership brings enterprise-grade positioning accuracy to cost-efficient, high-volume IoT applications.
Espoo, Finland – March 16, 2026 — Quuppa Oy, a global leader in real-time location systems (RTLS), and InPlay Inc., a pioneer in ultra-low-power wireless SoC technology, have announced compatibility between InPlay’s IN100 NanoBeacon™ and the Quuppa Intelligent Locating System™, both based on Bluetooth® technology.
The collaboration enables a new category of devices: paper-thin and disposable Bluetooth tags that can be positioned with sub-meter accuracy while maintaining ultra-low-power operation and compact form factors.
In high-volume production, unit costs are expected to reach as low as €1–€2, making precise real-time positioning viable for cost-sensitive, high-volume applications such as manufacturing, logistics, and inventory tracking.
Through close technical collaboration, the two companies confirmed that devices built around the IN100 NanoBeacon™ can be positioned using Quuppa’s advanced Angle-of-Arrival (AoA) technology, the same method already used in thousands of enterprise RTLS deployments worldwide.
For InPlay, the collaboration introduces precise and robust positioning capabilities that go beyond traditional RSSI-based or checkpoint-based identification technologies, opening new opportunities across manufacturing, logistics, and inventory tracking.
For Quuppa, the collaboration expands its ecosystem to support ultra-low-cost and disposable tag designs, allowing customers to track both premium tags and low-cost disposable labels on the same infrastructure with consistent, reliable data quality.
“This collaboration demonstrates how open innovation strengthens the Quuppa ecosystem,” said Martti Pinomaa, Chief Sales Officer at Quuppa. “By combining InPlay’s NanoBeacon design with Quuppa’s positioning platform, we’re enabling new use cases where accurate real-time visibility was previously out of reach.”
“Working with Quuppa allows our customers to achieve true Angle-of-Arrival positioning using our cost-effective IN100 NanoBeacon,” said Jason Wu, CEO of InPlay. “It’s an exciting step forward for the RTLS and IoT industries alike.”
Commercial tag designs based on the IN100 NanoBeacon™ are now being developed for high-volume tracking applications, enabling large-scale deployments for asset tracking, logistics, and industrial flow management.
Developers and solution providers can leverage InPlay’s NanoBeacon™ platform to create energy-efficient positioning devices that integrate seamlessly with Quuppa’s infrastructure.
This collaboration signals an important step for the RTLS market: sub-meter positioning accuracy is no longer limited to premium tags. It is now becoming accessible to high-volume, cost-optimised applications across industries.
