Q-Ports are 8-Port PoE powered cable aggregation devices to help reduce the cost of cabling, installation & deployment.

This section will guide you through using the Q-Port planning features in the QSP, including adding new Q-Ports to your project and establishing locators and Q-Port connections.

Add Q-Port

Q-Ports are 8-Port PoE powered cable aggregation devices that help reduce the cost of cabling, installation & deployment. Use Q-Port planning to make sure there are enough Q-Ports planned for all the locators in the project.

To add a new Q-Port to your project file, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the project in the QSP.

  2. In the object tree on the left, select the coordinate system where you want to add the Q-Port.

  3. In the menu bar at the top, open the Planning menu and select Add QPort. Alternatively, you can use the shortcut ctrl + D.

  4. A Q-Port will be added to the map view together with the editing panel on the right. A new Q-Port will be shown with the number 7 equally to the current number of free ports. The number will decrease when you make connections to locators.

  5. To select locators for connecting to individual ports, navigate to the Ports section. Choose the locator from the drop-down menu corresponding to each port.
