Installation Notes

The Quuppa LD-7L should be mounted clear of any metal obstructions (such as air-conditioning ducts, large ceiling trusses, building superstructures) to the side or front of the enclosure. In case needed, use a rigid conduit to position the Quuppa LD-7L away from these obstructions.

The Quuppa LD-7L should be aimed into the intended coverage area, therefore mount the device so that the desired mechanical tilt can be achieved.

Selecting a compatible mounting bracket

The Quuppa LD-7L mounting holes are arranged according to VESA MIS-F, 200, Y, 6 standard (Four M6 threaded holes in 200x200mm pattern). Select your mounting bracket according to the requirements set by the installation environment. Make sure that the mounting bracket can carry the weight of Quuppa LD-7L and possible wind loads.

Mounting Quuppa LD-7L

  1. Attach the Quuppa LD-7L to compatible VESA 200x200 mounting bracket. Use M6 bolts and assembly torque of 2 nM (max allowed torque is 2.5 nM).
  2. Attach the VESA mounting bracket to the wall, ceiling, or mast. Make sure that the LD-7L is installed the right way up with the drip shield at the top (highlighted in the picture).

  3. Aim the Quuppa LD-7L towards the intended coverage area and tighten all fasteners.
  4. Connect the Ethernet cable with a waterproof Ethernet connector to the Quuppa LD-7L. Make sure the other end of the cable is connected to a device connected to the Quuppa system.
    Warning: Always make sure that the installation surface or mast can carry the weight of the equipment and possible wind loads as well as keep the device stable in case of shakes or vibrations before installation. Not following general safety regulations can cause damage to property or bodily injuries. Rely on qualified personnel for carrying out the installation of Quuppa LD-7L. Quuppa disclaims any and all liability, losses and damages caused by or resulted from wrongful installation or mounting of the Quuppa system or any devices or products connected thereto.

Installing the Quuppa LD-7L Outdoors

If you are installing the Quuppa LD-7L outdoors, make sure that the Quuppa LD-7L is tilted to allow rainwater to run off the device. A 45 to 60 degree tilt is optimal for a Quuppa LD-7L installation, but in cases requiring horizontal installations a tilt of a few degrees is sufficient.

A cover installed over the Quuppa LD-7L is also always recommended for outdoor installations. The cover stops rain, snow and/or dust getting into the device and causing damage to the Quuppa LD-7L.

For outdoor installations, always apply a drip loop for the Ethernet cable to prevent water from entering the device via the cable. A drip loop should be applied regardless of mounting orientation. Figure 3 is an illustration of a drip loop applied to a Quuppa LD-7L installation.

Recommended Cable and Connector

When installing the Quuppa LD-7L, especially in outdoor or other humid or dusty environments, use an Ethernet cable and an Ethernet connector that are designed for outdoor use. The Ethernet socket of the Quuppa LD-7L is Conec 17-10020 and it accepts both bayonet and M28 threaded waterproof Ethernet connectors from Conec, for example 17-100464. Quuppa recommends that you use a waterproof Ethernet connector even when installing the device indoors to protect the device from water, moisture and dust.

Quuppa recommends the use of unshielded Ethernet cables for LD-7L installations. If for some reason shielded Ethernet cables are used, a short unshielded patch cable is needed.

Warning: Always make sure that no water (e.g. moisture) gets inside the Ethernet socket during installation and apply a drip loop for the cable to prevent water from entering the device after installation. The warranty remains valid only if the Quuppa LD-7L is mounted, installed and used correctly.
