Plastics Manufacturer Reconfigures Safe Workplace with BLE

ILR Industries is using an RTLS solution from i-Virtualize to improve its workspace layout and enable social distancing, and it plans to track productivity based on employee and equipment movements and sensor data.

Since deploying a real-time location system (RTLS) known as TRACE Sensors to manage worker safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, plastics custom manufacturing company ILR Industries reports that the technology has helped it to train employees regarding safe work protocols. The system, which employs Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and proprietary RF technology from Quuppa, detects where workers are located and their proximity to each other. Since being deployed, the technology has enabled IRL’s management to watch traffic flows and reconfigure its layout to provide safer distances between workers.
